Redhawk Happenings

 

Spelling Bee & Parent Teacher Conferences

 

  Nemo Vista held its annual spelling bee on January 6, 2012.  Mary Kate Record finished first, Jacie Andrews finished second, and Seth Cates finished third.  Maggie Mahan was the alternate.

Nemo Vista Spelling Bee winners participated on January 12, 2012 in the Conway County Spelling Bee. 

 

Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up on February 9, 2012.  Students will be out of school on the 10th for teacher inservice.

 

 

 

Student Council

 

 

Homecoming Dance will be held Jan. 27 for grades 6-12

 

Yearbook News

Your casual senior pictures are due now.  Every senior should submit one to Mrs. McLaughlin. If you haven’t submitted your senior casual picture, please see Mrs. McLaughlin asap.  If you haven’t paid for your senior page you need to do so at this time or see Mrs. McLaughlin.

Softball: Softball practice starts back in January.  The first game is March 8.  T-shirts and hoodies on sale; all money due Monday, January 23

 

Baseball: Schedule will be on websites. Regional tournament will be at Harrison and State will be at Taylor.  T-shirts, hoodies, and shorts are on sale, and money is due February 1.

 

 

FBLA...

Anyone interested in participating in an event in the spring conference needs to contact Mrs. Boren.  Wednesday January 25th is the FBLA Spring Conference/ Competition. This is a formal affair. Bring money for food. 

 

FCA...

Meets every Wednesday morning at 7:45.  Everyone is welcome.

BETA…

Beta Convention is January 27th   and 28th;  your $35 is due Friday, January 20, 2012 to Mrs. Mahan if you are going on the trip. Also, bring eating and spending money.  Students who are prepared need to make sure they are prepared.

 

FCCLA…

The FCCLA District 2 spring meeting will be held February 22, 2012 at Melbourne.

Tutoring

Tutoring will resume on Thursday, January 5 from 3:25 to 4:25.  All students should bring work and be prepared to stay the entire time.  Tutoring is provided for English, math, and science.

Counselor’s Corner…

Farm Bureau scholarships for families in agriculture are available.

Seniors will need to start the financial aid process in January.  They will need to bring in copies of scholarship offers.

The literacy EOC will be given in March.

Big Buck Classic is January 27.  Bus Leaves @ 10:30, and will return @ 5:30.

Real Reading Contest:  March 9 is the cutoff to have 2,500 pages turned in.

7-9th G/T students will attend a Quiz Bowl Tournament at Guy Perkins on February 4, 2012.

G/T students are back to their study of European countries and their cultures.
